REFERRALS

We welcome referrals for young people aged 16–25 who would benefit from a creative, therapeutic alternative to mainstream education. Here's how the process works.

WHO CAN REFER

We accept referrals from local authorities, SEND casework teams, schools and colleges, and other professionals working with young people. Parents and carers are also very welcome to get in touch directly — and young people can contact us themselves. Wherever a referral starts, we'll guide you through the next steps.

HOW THE REFERRAL PROCESS WORKS

1

GET IN TOUCH

Contact us by phone, email or our enquiry form with a few details about the young person and their situation. We'll arrange a conversation to talk it through.

2

VISIT & MEET US

We invite the young person — along with family, carers or professionals — to look around Fromehall Mill, meet the team and see the studios for themselves.

3

TASTER SESSIONS

We offer taster sessions so the young person can experience the provision at their own pace and decide whether it feels right — with no pressure.

4

PERSONALISED PLAN

Together we agree a personalised programme built around the young person's interests, strengths and goals, and confirm days, outcomes and funding with the referrer.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN A REFERRAL

To help us respond quickly, it's useful (but not essential) to include:

  • The young person's name, age and current setting (if any)
  • An overview of their needs, interests and circumstances
  • A copy of their EHCP, if they have one
  • Any relevant reports or assessments
  • The outcomes you'd like the placement to work towards
  • Proposed funding or commissioning arrangements

Don't worry if you don't have all of this to hand — get in touch and we'll take it from there.

PLACEMENTS & FUNDING

Placements are flexible — from one day a week to a full timetable — and every programme is personalised, blending music, media, outdoor learning, vocational skills and AQA Awards to suit the learner.

Funding is usually agreed with the commissioning local authority, school or college as part of the referral conversation. We're happy to provide costs, availability and any supporting information you need for panel or commissioning decisions.
